ProKART’s most popular and exciting race format
is our “team race.” Groups are divided
into teams, which can be chosen by you, or we can draw
for teams. After a safety briefing, the first driver
of each team grids up for the start of the race. During
the race, teams are required to change drivers, pit
stop driver changes are timed and each team is required
to make a predetermined number of pit stops. The team
with the most laps or leading the last lap is determined
the winner.
BENEFITS OF THE TEAM RACE:
· Team
Building experience
· Break down barriers that are sometimes prevalent
at the work place.
·
EVERYONE is involved, even if they choose not to
drive. (Non-drivers can be “Team Captains”).
· People who typically do not work together at the
office are often put on the same team.
HOW DOES A TEAM RACE WORK?
THIS IS INTENDED AS A GUIDE FOR EXPLANATION PURPOSES
ONLY.
1. Everyone will get at least one five-minute practice
session. We may do more than one practice session
depending on the groups’ abilities.
2. We will then divide into teams. We can have a
maximum of ten teams. The number of drivers per team
depends upon the number of people wanting to drive
and the groups’ desire for team size.
a. You can have your own teams made up.
b. We prefer to make the teams. We prefer to do this
because:
a. It is more random.
b. We are also able to do a good job of making sure
that two or more slower drivers are not put together
on the same team. This keeps the race interesting
for everyone.
3. We would then start the first driver from each
team on the track.
4. The next person on each team would be ready to
go. They will have their helmet on and be ready to
drive when the first driver comes into the pit area.
a. We have a pit area specially designed for team
races.
b. The first driver would come into the pit area.
We would then change drivers.
c. This pit change is a set amount of time (30 seconds).
This is set to allow ample time for driver changes.
This is for safety reasons to ensure that no one
is hurt getting into or out of karts.
d. We can only have one kart in the pits at a time.
This allows for some strategy, fun, and excitement.
5.
The race duration varies on the amount of time
remaining in the session. Each individual race
member’s
time on track would be up to the team, and is an
integral part of the strategy and planning by each
team.
Race
formats and durations can be customized to accommodate
your group’s needs and desires.
