2OO9 MRCI Grand Prix

Mankato, MN

Saturday July 25, 2009  9:00am - 9:00pm

Practice racing on July 24, 5:00–9:00pm

The MRCI Grand Prix is a fund raising event, held each year in Mankato MN. MRCI and ProKART have been working together for going on 4 years, producing this event to benefit the MRCI Foundation. This will be the largest outdoor racing event ProKART will be a part of this year.

The event is structured as what we call a "Team Race Grand Prix". Teams of 5 drivers race together in a single kart, changing drivers throughout the race. Each team is required minimum number of times pit stops, to ensure a fair race.

Depending on the teams finishing position in their first round heat race, teams will move on throughout the day into different heats and rounds. Although the structure can differ depending on the number of participants, each team is guaranteed two races, regardless of finishing position.

The Karts used for this, as well as all of our outdoor racing events, is the same 200cc equipped RIMO kart featured at our Burnsville location. Specially tuned and set up for asphalt racing, these karts handle amazingly. Speeds of up to 40 MPH are easily achieved.

Each year, we feature a new track design for this event as well. This design is kept private until the weekend of the event, just to add to the suspense, but typically is around 2 tenths of a mile, and has a minimum of 6 turns and typically a long straight away.

This is an extremely fun event, and for a good cause. All are welcome to participate, and we would love to see some familiar faces this year competing for the win. If you would like to get more detailed information about signing up for this race, please go to the MRCI Worksource Website

Stay tuned, other events are in the works for this year!
